Stability Testing

The stability of polymers against chemical media strongly depends on the nature, structure and composition of the polymers. Additionally, the medium stability is influenced by the formation of internal tensions during processing and by the ageing temperature.

For the durability testing of polymers, a distinction is made between a stability test without external load (storing, immersion test) and with additional external mechanical tension (stress crack resistance, stress crack corrosion).

The ageing without external loads can be carried out in media, at elevated temperature, in water vapour, in water, at a cyclical stress load of temperature and humidity or at a standardised climate. The details of all variants possible in our laboratories can be found under the term Ageing.

The stability tests with additional external mechanical tension can be found under resistance to stress cracking, which can be done in our labs as well.
